“Bonsai has changed the way I play guitar.”

— Eric R., Ventura owner

Why the Ventura

Four things a full-size guitar can't do

1

Plays like the guitar you already know. Standard E tuning and a real 17.5″ scale — same chords, same shapes, proper intonation.

2

Goes where you actually play. Couch, bed, desk chair with arms — and it flies as carry-on, in the overhead bin.

3

Real wood, genuine tone. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides.

4

Set up by hand before it ships. Unboxed, inspected, and fully set up in Ontario. Ready to play out of the box.

Hear it

Recorded raw on a phone — exactly as it sounds

One take, no EQ, no reverb. Fingerstyle and strumming, unplugged — headphones recommended.

True scale

One third less guitar to carry — none of the playability lost

27.5″ long × 9″ at its widest. Fits many overhead bins — airline rules vary, so check yours before you fly.

Where should I even start? My Ventura is one of the best-playing guitars I own, even with its small size. It fits in suitcases, and works amazingly for travelling, or if you just want a guitar with you for quiet moments. The pickup is a great addition as well, and the batteries for it are rechargeable with USB-C, so no more bringing extra or changing batteries on the go! I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a travel guitar, especially since Bonsai is a Canadian company!

Just an Awesome Little Guitar !!

I have to say - I bought this guitar for my two year old as he was running around with a plastic ukulele and watching me strum my Martin LX1E. The "guitars" you can buy kids are cheap and sound like crap. I saw the Ventura and was like hmmm. I have to say this thing is great. He obviously can't play it yet but he walks around the living room with the strap and strums it and loves the sound. He loves Ed Sheeran and with this guitar we think he thinks he's him lol. It's durable as he's two so you can imagine and when I pick it up it's almost ALWAYS in tune. When he needs a break he still picks up his cheap ukulele and that's when dad gets to play this thing and honestly it's a fun guitar and sometimes I just sit and play this rather than picking up one of MY guitars. Ben was also very responsive and answered my questions prior to purchasing and shipping was quick. I have no regrets of this purchase!!

My bonsai guitar is the reason I got so deep into guitar. I take it everywhere I go, play it in between work breaks, and any other time I can. It’s amazing and I highly recommend it to beginners, pros, and all in between!

The Ventura is exactly what I was looking for. It easily fits in a packed car for a road trip, and is plenty loud around the campfire. It’s also the perfect practice tool! On the couch, in my office chair, or even sitting in traffic - it’s always ready for some noodling. My only critique is I wish it was around sooner!

The founder is a great guy, very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his product (rightfully so)!

Questions

Yes. At 27.5″ with a 17.5″ scale it tunes to standard E, uses the same chord shapes, and intonates like a full-size instrument. The small body changes where you can play it, not what you can play on it.
The 17.5″ scale is paired with Aquila 153-C strings, engineered specifically for this scale to hold standard E tuning with proper tension. Short scale plus purpose-built strings is the entire mechanism.
It's 27.5″ × 9″ and has flown as carry-on many times, riding in the overhead bin — including on budget airlines. Airline rules vary, so check your carrier's instrument policy before you fly.
A built-in pickup so you can plug into an amp or an audio interface and record. It recharges over USB-C, so there are no coin batteries to buy or replace; a cable is included. Unplugged, it sounds the same as the acoustic model.
Every Ventura comes with 30-day returns for a full refund. It ships from Ontario, so returns are domestic: no customs forms, no cross-border hassle.
No — it's smaller. A traditional parlor has a 24–24.75″ scale; the Ventura's is 17.5″, in a body significantly more compact, still in standard E tuning.
The Ventura takes Aquila 153-C strings, the only set made for its scale. Replacement sets are $19.99. Your first replacement set in the first year is free: email us and we will set it up. Buying a set never uses up your free one.
